These are my favourite post-workout snack. When you exercise, your body uses up its storage of glucose (sugars that we use for energy) and so its important to replenish those. This will give you a boost of needed energy PLUS restore your glucose storage in your muscles and liver.
Bananas are a great snack because they are high in the “good” kind of carbs that your body craves after a workout. They help replenish your storage of sugars which helps rebuild damaged muscle. They are also really high in potassium which is a critical component of all your nervous system impulses.
All in all – a great post-workout revitalizing snack.
Hemp seeds are an amazing source of plant based protein and healthy fats. They are super high in protein (just 3 tbsp contains 10 grams!) and a great source of Omega 3 Fats. Omega 3 fats are awesome for athletes because they help to increase the performance of your lungs, help you burn more fat, are anti-inflammatory, balance hormone secretions and speed up glucose metabolism (meaning you get more energy faster!)
The honey here is optional. But again, it is a great way to get some sugars back into your body after you have depleted yourself of glucose-energy.
Happy snackin’ !
